Volunteer roles

Our volunteers help with a wide variety of activities. Here are a few you could help us with.

General adviser

Our volunteer advisers are all fully trained to help, both face-to-face and over the telephone. They receive full training in the skills needed to help people deal with their problems and learn how to find the information the client needs from our extensive database. They are supported in their work by trained supervisors and paid members of staff.

Our advisers find the work so rewarding that many of them have been with us for 10 or more years.

Our receptionists are our public face, and are responsible for managing our waiting room (fully supported by our supervisors). Receptionist also enter client details onto our computer system, and telephone clients to remind them of appointments.

Charity trustee

Like all local Citizens Advice, we are a charity managed by a board of trustees. Trustees are voluntary and unpaid. The role is rewarding and interesting, whether you want to give something back to your local community, use your skills, or gain knowledge and experience of the voluntary sector to develop your career.

If any of these roles interests you, or you would like to help in any other way, please ring us or drop in at any time when we are open. Please be patient if we are busy and you need to wait a few minutes.
